Israel

Israel has one of the most vibrant LGBTQI+ scenes in the Middle East and Asia, centred overwhelmingly on Tel Aviv. The city hosts one of the world’s most-attended Pride parades and has been marketed internationally as a top gay travel destination for over two decades. Same-sex relationships are legal, same-sex couples from abroad can marry in Israel under certain conditions, and workplace discrimination protections are in place.

That said, full marriage equality for Israeli citizens does not yet exist in domestic law (marriages are performed abroad and recognised on return). Outside Tel Aviv, attitudes vary significantly — Jerusalem and more religious or conservative areas can be less welcoming. The broader regional context also means that travel to Israel requires some awareness of geopolitical considerations.
