Weekend Pup Montreal (WPM) is an annual celebration of puppy play and pet play culture within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, held during Fierte Montreal. Spread over three days, the festival culminates in a competition awarding the gender-neutral title of 'Pup Montreal' to an individual who has distinguished themselves in the LGBTQ+ community.
Events are organised by the Pup Montreal Contest Organizing Committee in partnership with WoofMTL, which promotes and demystifies puppy play and pet play practices through games, workshops, parties, and community gatherings.
The 2026 edition runs across the opening weekend of Fierté Montréal (July 31 – August 9, 2026). Three days of free community events lead to the election of Pup Montréal 2026, a gender-neutral title awarded to a person who has stood out within the LGBTQ+ community and in the competition.
Programme highlights:
Friday 31 July — 5@7 opening ceremony at Bar Aigle Noir (17:00–19:00). Meet the candidates, judges, former titleholders and members of the pup, pet and trainer community. Free entry.
Saturday 1 August — Soirée du Concours Pup Montréal 2026 at Bain Mathieu (18:00–21:00). The main competition evening: performances by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, pup showcases, and the election of Pup Montréal 2026. Doors 18:00, contest 18:30–21:00, then celebrations in the lower room leading into the Kink Playground party with Bear It (21:00 onwards). Tickets $5 via bearitmtl.com.
Sunday 2 August — Community closing events (programme TBC; past editions have featured poutine lunches and WoofMTL games including dog fights, agility courses and educational workshops).
The event is co-organised by Weekend Pup Montréal and WoofMTL, with support from Fierté Montréal. All events are bilingual (English and French) and held at accessible venues.
