Reykjavik Pride is one of the world's most remarkable Pride events — a celebration in Iceland's small, extraordinarily progressive capital that draws a significant fraction of the entire national population. The parade through Reykjavik's compact city centre is intimate and joyful, and the surrounding weekend has a distinctly communal, welcoming character.
The parade marches through Reykjavik's main streets in August, followed by a festival in Austurvöllur square. The scale is smaller than major European capitals but the atmosphere is exceptional — Reykjavik Pride is frequently cited as one of the most moving Pride experiences in the world.
August in Iceland is the warmest month — around 14°C with very long days (the sun barely sets in late July/early August). The combination of Iceland's extraordinary natural landscape (accessible on day trips from Reykjavik) with the Pride atmosphere makes it a uniquely special travel experience.
Reykjavik Pride 2026 dates not yet announced. Based on prior years, the festival typically runs in early August (2025 was ~7–10 August) with the Pride Parade on a Saturday. Check gaypride.is for confirmed dates.
