The International Bear Rendezvous (IBR) is San Francisco's annual bear festival — one of the oldest and most beloved bear events in the world. Held in late January/early February, it draws bears from across the globe to the city where bear culture was born, for a long weekend of parties, community events, and the famous IBR Bear Market.
IBR features pool parties, bar takeovers, the IBR Bear Market vendor fair, and the closing night gala — spread across the Castro, the Lone Star Saloon, and other SF bear venues. The combination of San Francisco's culture and the warmth of the international bear community makes it a special event.
February in San Francisco is cool (12–15°C) but generally clear and sunny — the city's famous fog is less prevalent in late winter. It's a great time to visit: quieter than summer, hotel rates lower, and the bear community brings its own warmth.
International Bear Rendezvous 2026 runs over Presidents' Day long weekend in San Francisco. The event is centred on the Castro and SoMa neighbourhoods, with official parties at venues including Oasis, The EndUp, and Powerhouse. IBR attracts bear community members from across the USA and internationally for four days of events, shows, and community connection.
